Fish Stock Management & Surveys
As a fishery or water body owner, it’s crucial to understand the fish populations that are present to maximise the potential of your water and improve the overall health of the stock. We have custom made Seine nets, up to date Electrofishing equipment to effectively capture fish from the most challenging of waters and our staff are fully qualified operators.

Benefits from surveying your fish stocks include
- Removal of predatory fish
- Removal of invasive non-native fish
- Cropping of fish to maintain a healthy biomass/improve water quality
- Fish health check
- Developing a feeding programme once the biomass has been established
We also offer a service to our clients where we can purchase or sell on their surplus stock if required. This is dependent on species, quality, and quantity.
Aquatic Planting
Introducing marginal, or aquatic plants to any water body is a must for any healthy aquatic ecosystem and offers many benefits including:
- Improved fish refuge
- Soaking up nutrients, often preventing algal blooms
- Stabilising banks, preventing erosion
- Aesthetically pleasing
- Improves biodiversity
British AquaCare provides a bespoke planting service to suit your needs. We supply and install an array of aquatic and terrestrial plants either individually, or in pre planted Coir Rolls or mats.
Aquatic Weed Control & Management
Aquatic weed plays a huge role in any ecosystem. Unfortunately, certain environmental factors can often lead to an abundance of growth which may have a detrimental impact on your asset or business. Most commonly, aquatic weed is carried out either; mechanically, manually, or chemically. At British AquaCare we offer manual service, through the use of various tools as well as a chemical control service. All of our staff have relevant pesticide application licences and all appropriate consents by the Environment Agency will be granted prior to work.
Calcium Carbonate & Hydrated Lime Applications
Applying Calcium Carbonate to water is a popular and inexpensive management technique to reduce organic silt, improve water quality and biodiversity in freshwater lakes/ponds. Calcium Carbonate is environmentally friendly and harmless to all aspects of wildlife.
Hydrated Lime applications are most commonly carried out for disinfecting of lake/pond beds once the lake has been drained. Spot treatments can be effective in areas which has an abundance of organic matter. Hydrated Lime is extremely toxic to fish and must not be mistaken for Calcium Carbonate. It must only be used by professionals and dose rates fluctuate due to environmental factors.
We offer a service where we can supply both Calcium Carbonate & Hydrated Lime products as well as carry out the application on site.
